The Marching Band this year continued it's traditions of focusing on entertainment as they performed "Avatar". This was the first year the band had competed in Cavalcade.
Next year they are pleased to announce that they will be bringing back Music Over the Mountain to the Pocono Mountain East Stadium after a 5 year hiatus. They are bringing back MOtM in a new, non-competitive format that focuses on entertainment, camaraderie, various styles of performances and audience interaction concluding a mass band performance with all of the participating bands. Just think 400-500 band members on the field playing the chart together from various schools!! If you are a band director that would like to bring your group you can register at www.tinyurl.com/PMEMOtM16
For more information you can contact Mr. Eick at firstname.lastname@example.org
On May 21, the marching band will travel to Allentown to perform at the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks game at the PPL Center.
PME was honored to have sent 7 selected students to Marywood University for the Sr. Wind Band Celebration. Students re-auditioned on arrival and were split into two bands: Honor Band and Celebration Band. Two students, Reannon Zangakis and Gene Boone, were excepted into the Honor's band after re-audition and Vishal Forde, Tori Padmos, Reagan Withey, Sarah Stettler and Amber Dailey were excepted into the Celebration Band. Congratulations to those 7 students.
In February, The Jazz Ensemble traveled to the ArtsQuest center in Bethlehem and participated in the Steelstacks Jazz Showcase sponsored by Moravian College. The jazz band walked away with a rating of Excellent, only points from a Superior rating. There next performance will be on the Music Department Trip to Virginia Beach in April followed by hosting the PME Jazz Festival at Pocono Mountian East HIgh School on April 29 with 8 visiting jazz ensembles from various schools. They will wrap up their season with their SPRING FLING BIG SWING DANCE held in SEC on May 27. Come out and swing to the classic jazz charts of Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, and more. Starts at 7:00 pm. $5 for individuals, $7 for swinging couples!!!
The Music Department held their 14th annual Prism Concert in February. They featured every ensemble as well as solos and small group performances. Close to 400 kids represented the music department in grades 8-12 in every genre. Once again the students performed for a standing room only audience and did not disappoint. Admission was a donation to the Jared Box Collection and/or a donation to the Music Scholarship Fund provided by the PMCMB. We collected enough Jared Box items to fill two large tubs and due to the community's generosity, are close to being able to offer two separate scholarships for students attending college for music. Thank you to the community for coming out and showing your support to a great cause!
Thank you for your continued support! Next performance is April 8-10 as we present the HS musical "Into the Woods".
