Message of sympathy and support from Dr. Elizabeth Robison, Superintendent of Schools

Message from Dr. Elizabeth Robison, Superintendent of Schools:

Over the weekend we lost two students from the Pocono Mountain West Junior High School from a tragic accident on Interstate 80 that occurred Friday night. I speak for our entire district and our school board as I express my deepest and most sincere sympathy to the family of Sammy and Andrea Rutkowski. Sammy was in 7th Grade and just 12 years old, and Andrea was in 8th Grade and only 14. We pray for Sammy and Andrea. We also pray for the other Rutkowski family members, as we believe they too have been very badly injured in this horrific traffic accident.

We will have crisis counselors available in our schools this week for as long as needed to help our students, faculty and staff. Our campuses will be closed to media as we try to help our school community through this terrible tragedy.
